10 movies you MUST watch

This week I’m taking 10 movies that are some of my favorites – Some you may know, some you may not but you should check these out if you have not already watched them.

Gone With the Wind 1939 – One of the best all time classics – “I don’t know nothin bout birthin no baby” and “Frankly darling I don’t give a damn.” 2 of the all time most famous movie quotes. Although this classic is 4 hours long it is worth every moment of it to sit and watch it.

Battle Ground – This 1949 classic is about WWII and one of my favorites. The war was still fresh in people’s minds, and this was about the Battle of the Bulge which a lot of people knew someone that had something to do in this battle, including my Grandfather and many more from the small mountain town I grew up in. Well done and still a good one to check out.

The Endless Summer – This 1966 documentary features Mike and Rob as they travel around the world seeking waves to surf. Even if you are not a Surfer Dude its worth checking out this film for the scenery alone. Well done documentary.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail – This 1975 film is still one of the all time best collaborations of skits. A lot of it is old time simple humor but holds its value for sure. Many may have heard the name but take the time to watch it. 2 thumbs up.

Little Darlings – One of Matt Dillion’s first movies. This 1980 film is about a group of girls who go to summer camp. 2 of the girls make a bet on who can loose their virginity first. It’s worth checking out and a great reflection of the late 70 early 80 time period.

The Gods Must be Crazy – This is another one of my favorites. This 1980 film was one of South Africa’s most successful films. It is a comic look on nature colliding with industry, old world meets new. If you have never seen this film see how one Coke bottle can disrupt an entire African bush tribe. Very well done.

Adventures in Babysitting – This was one of those crazy 80s movies from 1987 – Some things didn’t quite make sense but I recently watched it with my kids and they talked about it for weeks, so if you have never seen this film check it out.

Young Guns – This 1988 western about Billy the Kid has a ton of facts and history in it. The star studded film featured Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, and Lou Diamond Phillips as the Outlaw gang making their way across New Mexico. They are confronted by the law many times, but the real Billy the Kid was a master of escape, so make sure you check out this western.

The English Patient – This movie was about a WWII pilot who crashed and survived, but he was burnt severely and lost his memory. This 1996 film won 8 out of its 12 nominations at the Academy Awards. This is just an all around great movie one to watch for sure.

Slumdog Millionaire – I remember the 2009 Academy Awards the Monday after I was talking about it and said they should change the name to the Slumdog Awards, as they won 8 out of 10 awards. So sometime after I decided to check it out and saw why the film won so many awards. It was a masterpiece and if you have not seen this movie this one is a must.

I hope you enjoyed my mini write up, these films are all worth grabbing some popcorn on a Saturday night and curling up on the couch for a night in.
